Delivering to the Scottish Futures Trust (SFT) Learning Estates Investment Programme (LEIP) requirements

We were the first Contractor to fully develop and deliver a LEIP funded School at the Wallyford Learning Campus (now Rosehill High School) for East Lothian Council. Building on lessons learned and best practices established in its development and delivery, we developed tools and processes in recognition of Key Strategic Objectives and National Priorities, that ensures we are uniquely placed to understand and embrace delivery of projects under the LEIP funding criteria.

Our current LEIP portfolio extends to eight projects with three delivered, three in construction and two in development.

Industry Leading Practices

We are leading the way in the deployment of digital technologies and research of low-carbon project delivery.

In collaboration with BE-ST, we have developed a Scotland-wide low carbon training programme and as lead partner developed the ‘TARDIS’ research rig which seeks to advance construction quality standardisation through thermal and airtightness testing.

The benefits of the TARDIS have already been realised through the testing and refinement of  key design details on our Passivhaus school campuses in advance of construction. This robust and early review of key details brings real time, cost and quality certainty to the delivery process for our clients.

Inclusive Growth

We are committed to maximising the opportunities created by our projects to ensure that, at a local level, we assist our clients to create a positive impact upon economic, social and environmental priorities, and generate community benefits and wealth.

In line with the aspiration for “inclusive economic growth” as set out within Scotland’s Economic Strategy, our own Community Engagement Strategy is aligned to deliver meaningful outcomes that reflect genuine local community needs and aspirations which is at the core of “Community Wealth Building”

In the last 5 years we have generated over £174m of Community Wealth across our education projects and this commitment has been recognised though various awards and accolades, including winning the inaugural Community Wealth Building Award at the 2023 ROCCO Awards in Renfrewshire.

Achieving Passivhaus

We were incredibly proud to deliver the first local authority Passivhaus certified  educational facility in Scotland, Blackridge Early Years for West Lothian Council. This has then been a launchpad for the development of another 4 high quality low energy buildings to the same standards with a combined value of over £215m.

This includes Maybury Primary School for City of Edinburgh Council, Faifley School Campus for West Dunbartonshire Council and the new Paisley Grammar School Community Campus for Renfrewshire Council. All are currently under construction and working towards full Passivhaus “classic” certification. This is further demonstrable evidence of our capacity for high quality, innovative and sustainable construction delivery.

With no ambition too big or project too small, we focus on Client needs and a ‘thought-leadership’ role in digital construction, quality, low-carbon delivery and boosting inclusive growth. Our project successes demonstrate the benefits of our investment and the positive impact we have on people’s lives and Scotland’s Learning Estate.
