In his role as Senior Education Officer at Education Scotland, Ian leads on Learning for Sustainability, outdoor learning, sciences and STEM within Scotland’s curriculum. A major focus of his work at present is the implementation of the refreshed Learning for Sustainability Action Plan which aims to build a movement for change so every 3-18 place of learning becomes sustainable by 2030.

Ian initially trained as a physics and mathematics teacher and has taught in Zambia, Malawi and Scotland. Prior to joining Education Scotland, Ian worked as an instructor at a variety of outdoor education centres and also managed the schools programme for one of Scotland’s leading international aid and development organisations.
