Gail Preston
Head Teacher,
Rosehill High School

Prior to the school’s opening in August 2023, I worked closely with the multiple teams involved in the project, many of whom had been engaged in developing the vision for the campus from the earliest stage. As Head of Establishment, partnership development remains crucial to my role, with ongoing expansion of facilities that benefit the wider community.
Prior to joining East Lothian Council, I spent several years in senior leadership in Midlothian Council, including roles in learning and teaching, pupil support, and quality improvement. Whilst all of these were very fulfilling, the experience of growing a school from the ground up is a once in a career opportunity, and offers exciting possibilities to make a positive impact in the county. I recently graduated with Masters in Educational Leadership and Learning, the latter part of which focused on the challenge of creating a sustainable culture and ethos within a learning
