After a brief career as a software engineer, Dave has worked in education for over 30 years, as a Computing Science teacher and digital leader in schools and at local authority level in Edinburgh and London, and for the last 3 years as Quality Improvement Education Officer (Digital Learning) in City of Edinburgh Council.

Dave ran his first 1:1 deployment in a large west London comprehensive in 2008, and on returning to Scotland, helped lead strategic developments in 1:1 digital learning, culminating in Edinburgh’s recent £17.6 million  ‘Empowered Learning’ project, which has deployed 45000 iPads to learners and teachers across Edinburgh schools, and supports a major council priority to ‘increase attainment for all and reduce the poverty-related attainment gap’.
